ABOUT US
Knight Brothers began as an idea in 2021 after the passing of our life long friend Robbie O’Geen. Robbie was a one of a kind. He was one of those larger than life people. He knew someone everywhere he went and had enough stories to fill many lifetimes. Unfortunately, Robbie’s story was cut too short. As many families do, our family has had our share of loss. Along with Robbie, we lost our brother Eric while we were in high school and later Scott’s wife Linda at age 42. With those lost loved ones in mind, we wanted to do something to honor them and who they were. We wanted their stories to continue. And with that, we decided to create scholarship funds in each of their names and tied to something that resonated with them.
Since then, the scholarships have grown. Next we added a “First In Family” scholarship to honor Irene Aguilar. She was the first in her family to go on to a Bachelors, Masters and soon to be Doctorate.
More recently, in 2026 we added a scholarship to honor some of our favorite teachers from our of Pavilion Central School days. It is really to honor all teachers, but we listed a few of our favorites.

Scott was born and raised in Western New York, where he experienced the values of small-town life first hand. Growing up, Scott learned responsibility and teamwork through everyday experiences—delivering newspapers, playing high school sports, spending summers bailing hay and working in a machine shop. These early lessons helped shape the character and work ethic he carries with him today.
From his parents, Sharon McWethy and Gene Tiede, Scott learned the importance of hard work, the value of a good education, and a deep commitment to helping others—a belief that service is both a responsibility and a privilege.
Scott graduated from Pavilion Central High School in 1989. He went on to earn an Associate Degree in Management Information Systems from Genesee Community College in 1991, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Clarkson University in 1993.
While attending Clarkson University, Scott completed an internship with Texas Instruments (TI) in 1992. Following graduation, he joined TI full time and has been fortunate to spend his entire professional career with the company. With more than 33 years at Texas Instruments and counting, Scott’s career reflects dedication, loyalty, and a commitment to continuous growth.
Outside of his professional and philanthropic work, Scott values time spent with his children and family. He enjoys traveling with his wife (Irene Aguilar) and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, where he continues to give back through hands-on service.
Building upon the values instilled in them by their parents, Scott and his brother, Kevin, co-founded The Knight Brothers Foundation. The foundation was established both to honor those they have lost, those who have helped shape their lives and to pay those values forward—supporting others through generosity, service, and opportunity.

Lot's of nice things about Kevin 🙂
GMore nice things about Kevin...

Sharon McWethy was born and raised on a small farm in Upstate NY. She still resides on the same street, only a few hundred feet from the house she was raised in. Despite the short distance from where she was born to where she currently lives, Sharon has enjoyed traveling the world. From living in 1960 post WWII Germany, to visiting China , to Greece, to helping to build a school in Nicaragua and many other locations around the world. She has always pushed herself, never shying away from a challenge and has been an inspiration to her children. A few of her many accomplishments include a 6 day hike up and down Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in her 60s…hiking over 300 miles for 6 weeks straight as part of the El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage through Spain in her 70s…and finally to honor her great grandfather who was part of the 1898 Klondike gold rush, she celebrated her 80th birthday by completing a 6 day, 33 mile hike through the challenging Chilkoot pass starting in Alaska and ending in Canada.
Getting a later start on her college career, Sharon learned the value of an advanced education. She achieved a BS in psychology, a Masters in Social Work (CSW) and a NY state certification in Addiction studies, all while raising children at home.
Sharon’s professional career includes 17 years working for the Genesee Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (GCASA). She began as a substance abuse counselor for what was then a small outpatient organization and worked her way up to Director. Her dedicated staff worked diligently and developed many expansions. The expansions included were supported and funded by the NY State and Local Genesee County governments. As a devoted team, they created multiple residential facilities and a detox program in Batavia NY and also expanded services into Orleans County.
She has volunteered for many local agencies. Currently she volunteers on the Selection Committee for Dollar for Scholars in Pembroke, NY.
(Bio written by Scott Tiede as Sharon’s version was too modest 🙂 )
